Working with Panda Associates to support Bath and North East Somerset Council to rethink how they govern their Change Portfolio.
During the kick-off, we wanted to know what success would look like. People naturally want to offer a solution, e.g. “Success is a better system for managing xyz” or “Success is empowered teams.” All of these might be true, but what is the actual outcome? What changes?
By asking five simple questions, we got a better answer. The questions trick the brain into describing the change instead of jumping to a solution.
Once the outcomes are clear, it’s easy to measure progress by identifying and tracking leading and lagging indicators.
