Recruiting digital skills

When Co-op Digital was first set up, it needed to recruit for new roles that didn’t yet exist within the 160-year-old organisation.

What’s interesting?

  • The recruitment workflow was made visible to everyone. It was displayed on the wall in a central part of the office, which made it accessible and transparent. Much better than hidden away in an email inbox or an online system (although both still happened)

  • Visualising the recruitment workflow allowed the HR and Digital colleagues to simplify it. Something about making it physical helped with that.

  • HR and all stakeholders wanting to recruit gathered around this wall (initially, every week for 30 mins) to review progress and discuss blockers. It made the process more collaborative.
